Golf tourney's collection improves every year
Recent event nets RM578,700 for charity.
The fifth TTDI Development (TTDI) Charity Golf Tournament held at the Tropicana Golf and Country Club recently succeeded in raising RM578,700.
TTDI Development group managing director Datuk Johan Ariffin said the tournament had grown since its inauguration in 2003.
TTDI raised RM150,000 in 2003, RM415,000 in 2005, RM500,000 in 2005 and RM571,000
last year.
"Throughout the five years, we have raised more than RM 2.1 mil.
"The money raised here today will be channelled to more than 100 charitable organisationss like children's welfare homes, hospices, disease foundations, single mothers welfare associations, handicapped and other social bodies," Johan said.
The tournament attracted about 100 participants that comprised business partners, associates and
suppliers of the company, and friends.
Malacca Governor Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob and Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Ab Hakim Borhan were among the VIPS who played in the tournament.
K. Sukumar, a seven handicapper, scored 38 points to net the overall title and took home a 29in Sony Wega television.
Mohd Yusof Ahmad, who plays to a 13 handicap, scored 37 points on countback to win the A Medal category.
Mohd Baharuddin, a 10 handicapper, scored 36 points to win the B Medal while Datuk Rashid Asari who is also a 10 handicapper scored 36 points on countback to win the C Medal.
Among the tournament's sponsors this year were Moccis Trading, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia, Transview Golf, Emirates, GLP Resources, Utusan Meridian (Partners) and ATG watches.
