Petaling Jaya, 29 November 2009 - Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid said in order to ease the traffic situation, Jalan Tanjung will be reopened on Monday (30 November). He said that if the developer refuses to reopen the road, he will personally remove the barricade.

With the intervention of the state government, the Jalan Tanjung road closure incident, which has been dragging on for a week, secured a temporary solution with various parties agreeing to open Jalan Tanjong for one-way traffic for two weeks. But, the road has not been reopened to date.

Khalid said that Jalan Tanjong will be reopened on Monday as agreed by the developer and the state government. He said this during his attendance at the Bandar Tun Razak constituency Family Day celebration.

“If the developer does not reopen the road, I will do it myself,” he said.

He said Jalan Tanjung will be reopened for one-way traffic for two weeks. During this period the authority will carry out a feasibility study on turning the road into four lanes.

On the question of protest by Bandar Utama residents on the reopening of Jalan Tanjong, Khalid said there were in support of and against the reopening of Jalan Tanjong. The authority is trying its best to find a win-win solution.
