Kuala Lumpur, 29 November 2009: Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim mentioned that Bandar Utama’s Jalan Tanjung will be reopened tomorrow (30 December). However, they have only opened a one-way traffic, which is the road from Bandar Utama to Persiaran Tropicana while the other lane is still closed.
He stated that the developer has agreed with the re-opening. If they do not open, he will go to the scene to open it personally.
“We will study the traffic volume at Jalan Tanjung within these two weeks so that we can decide whether it is necessary to extend the road from two lanes to four.
He said that the authority will figure out the traffic volume when the road is opened and then they will have a meeting to discuss the best solution.
Khalid is also the member of Malaysian Parliament for Bandar Tun Razak. He gave two cows to residents of Bandar Tun Razak Taman Mulia as a Hari Raya Haji gift when he stated the above.
Discuss the solution
Khalid mentioned that the purpose of Hari Raya Haji is to help poor people. On that day, after Muslims kill cows, they need to give the meat to the poor.
“I think that the most important thing is for all the residents to participate in activities, and to show concern for each other.”
Bandar Utama’s Jalan Tanjung was closed on 16 November at 1am.Around 20 residences were affected whereas 19 of the Residents Associations, joint management associations and the representatives of a school submitted about ten thousand signatures to request for the re-opening of the road.
Bandar Utama Residents Association (Bura) agreed with the developer’s decision to close the road. He said that the residences such as Sunway Damasara, Kota Damansara and Aman Suria have to face the serious traffic congestion because there are more and more cars going to other places through Bandar Utama.
Although Khalid had already ordered the developer to reopen the road, the road is still closed.
