Resort’s beauty focus of contest
ORGANISING a photography competition at the Tropicana Golf and Country Club for the third year in a row is no easy task, but it was done anyway.

The competition was part of Tropicana’s efforts to showcase the resort’s many beautiful landscapes, tranquil nature and the wonderful lifestyle enjoyed by the residents and the members.

More than 400 entries were submitted for two categories, Media and Press and Open category, with prizes totalling RM30,000 in value.

Selangor state exco for Tourism, Health and Consumer Affairs Datuk Lim Thuang Seng commended Dijaya Corporation’s efforts in organising the competition yearly.
His statement prompted the corporation’s group managing director P.K.Poh to remark: “It is not easy to keep the place in good condition as Malaysia has a bad culture in maintenance,” said Lim.

For the photographers’ efforts in capturing the serenity of Tropicana, Lim said he would like to borrow some of the photos for the state’s tourism brochures and promote the resort, which is currently ranked as one of the top in Selangor.

In reference to Lim’s statement about keeping the resort in good condition, Poh added: “It’s a good way of ensuring that the staff puts in that extra effort to make sure the place looks good for the photographers.”

To the photographers, Poh urged those who did not win to try again next year.

“I spoke with the judges and they have told me the difference in picture quality for this year’s competition was very minimal,” he said.

The Star photographer Art Chen won the Media category while freelance photo enthusiast Wong Wing Chun took the first place in the Open category.

Chen received RM2,000, a return air ticket to Perth worth RM1,650 and a Canon MVX250i digital video camcorder worth RM3,199 while Wong received RM2,500 cash, a return air ticket to Shanghai worth RM1,400 and a Mont Blanc Pen worth RM980.
